  1. Users can begin creating a presentation in Keynote by tapping the + button in the top left corner and selecting "Create Presentation" (see the image on the right)
  2. Select a Theme for the presentation from those given by tapping on the selection (see below)keynote-theme.jpg

  • Adding Text: Double tap the text on the slide to edit the placeholder text--they keyboard will appear for you to start typing.
  • Using the Media (+) Tool: Select he media (+) tool and select shapes--the "T" text tool is located under shapes--select it to add a text box.
  • Changing Fonts (Size, Font, Color Style, Paragraph Style, etc.) With text selected (you must tap it to select it) you can use the paintbrush icon keynote-brushicon.jpgto change: Font, Size, Color, Style, Paragraph Style, etc.
  • Speak Text: If you double tap existing text to select it, the "Speak" button will appear.


Formatting Pictures & Working with Objects in Keynote:

Tap the + button to add photos to slides

  • Adding Pictures The three most common ways users add photos/pictures to their slides are as follows:
    • Double tap an existing picture/photo in Keynote to: cut, copy, delete, replace or animate.
    • Double tap the small circle with the mountain range in the lower right corner of an existing theme picture/photo holder to swap it out with another picture you can select from your photo gallery.
    • Tap the + button in the top right corner and select the media tab to select photos from your photo gallery.
  • Picture Styles: Once you have placed a picture on the slide, you can change the style of the picture (borders, border thicknesses/colors, and special effects such as shadows, opacity and reflections) by tapping the photo to select it and then tapping the paintbrush icon. keynote-brushicon.jpg
  • Speak Text: If you double tap existing text to select it, the "Speak" button will appear.

  • Adding Pictures The three most common ways users add photos/pictures to their slides are as follows:
    • Tap the white"+ Button" in the LOWER LEFT CORNERto add slides to your presentation (this is not to be confused with the black + button used to add media)
      • A series of slide templates (from your selected theme) will "pop up"
      • Tap the slide template you would like to add to your presentation and then beginning editing the slide.
    • Press and hold on an existing slide until it "jiggles" and select "Copy"to copy the slide. Press and hold again in the slide tray area along the left to "Paste" the slide and make a duplicate of the one copied.
      • If the slide is not pasted where you want it, simply drag it to the location you would like in the slide column on the left.

  • Keynote Tools (the icon looks like a wrench--see the icon above/left) provide the options needed to add transitions and builds to your slides along with sharing, printing, finding words, adding presenter notes and adding advanced features such as slide numbers, guides, interactive hyperlinks, looping a presentation and connecting the keynote remote app. A help menu is also available under the Tools menu.
    • Transitions & Builds: This feature allows for animating photos, text etc. on a slide and also setting a transitions between slides

      • e-mail the presentation as a keynote, pdf or PowerPoint
      • print if you have a printer set-up for use by your iPad
      • share via iWork.com (if you have an account)
      • send the document to iTunes as a Keynote, pdf or Powerpoint
      • copy the document to iDisk
      • copy the document to a WebDAV server
    • Find: this tool feature opens the search bar and keyboard to search for a word/text
    • Presenter Notes: This tool feature allows for adding presenter notes to the slide (the notes are only displayed when connected to a projector)
    • Advanced Tool:This tool feature has a number of options including adding slide numbers, alignment guides, hyperlinks, looping the presentation and connecting with the Keynote Remote App.
      • Slide Numbers: turn on or off with the slider
      • Guides: select the guides you would like displayed when editing (they don't show when presenting): center, edge, spacing, 10%
      • Interactive Hyperlinks: links to slides, URL or Mail
      • Presentation Type: Looped, Self-Playing, Normal
      • Keynote Remote App: Enable/disable the use of Keynote Remote App connection

Presenting Your Slides:
  • Press the Triangle (top right corner) This begins the presentation
    • Pinch to end the presentation
    • Presentation settings: Slide transitions, builds, presenter notes, and advanced features are available under the Tools-->Advanced (the wrench icon)

Naming, Deleting, Organizing Presentation into Folderkeynote-selectpreso.jpg
  • Naming a Presentation: Exit out of your presentation by tapping the presentations button in the top left corner.
    • All of your presentations will be displayed with a slide, a name and the date created.
    • Tap the name of the presentation
    • The "rename presentation" window will open with the cursor and keyboard ready to type your presentation's name
  • Deleting a Presentation: Exit out of your presentation by tapping the presentations button in the top left corner.
    • Tap the Edit button in the top right corner
    • The presentations will start to "jiggle" and three new icons will appear in the top left corner

      Drag one presentation on top of another to form a folder
    • Tap the presentation you want to delete and it will become outlined in a highlight color
    • Tap the "trash can" icon in the top left corner and select "Delete Presentation"
    • Tap the Done button in the top right corner to stop your presentations from "jiggling"
  • Organizing Presentations into Folders: Exit out of your presentation by tapping the presentations button in the top left corner.
    • All of your presentations will be displayed with a slide, a name and the date created.
    • Tap the Edit button in the top right corner
    • The presentations will start to "jiggle"
    • Drag one presentation on top of another and a folder will be formed and you will be prompted to name the folder.
    • Tap the Done buttonin the top right corner to stop your presentations from "jiggling"
      • To move presentations out of folder, simply drag them out of the folder--once the folder is empty the folder will disappear.
